Tender oven-baked pear halves filled with cinnamon-spiced walnuts and a drizzle of honey — an elegant, naturally gluten-free dessert.

Ingredients

Servings: 4
  • 2 ripe but firm pears, halved and cored
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 40 g walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
  • 0.25 tsp vanilla extract
  • Greek yogurt or vanilla ice cream, to serve (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C (350F) and place the pear halves cut-side up in a small baking dish.
  2. Mix the walnuts with the cinnamon and spoon them into the hollow of each pear half.
  3. Dot with butter, then drizzle the honey and vanilla over the pears.
  4. Add 2 tablespoons of water to the bottom of the dish and bake for 25 minutes, basting once, until the pears are tender when pierced.
  5. Serve warm with the pan juices spooned over, plus a dollop of Greek yogurt or ice cream if you like.
